A BEAT OF OUR OWN is a Do It Yourself quarterly fanzine. The idea behind it was a dream that I had for a record store. I was piss broke and laying in bed one night. The world seemed bleak and I was even bleaker. The only thing moving through me was the day's alcohol. I never told anyone about it. I thought that I would name my record store this. Years passed and I still had the dream but things were not going too hot. What did happen though is I sobered up and thought - man I'm going to do a DIY fanzine. I haven't done one since I was 15 (16 years ago!). Hence, the name came into existance...

Interviews with FACEDOWNINSHIT, UWHARRIA, GEORGE TABB, MISSION OF BURMA, JERSEY BEAT, DUKE/ BANNED FOR LIFE, THE DETONATORS, SUBURBAN LOCKDOWN... DIY ~ PUNK FUCKIN RAWK.. I was born in Connecticut, but consider NC my home. As of the last few years I"ve done a tour of several Virginia cities, currently living in HAMPTON...

You could call me an "old-school punk rocker" since I'm pushing 30 now. A professional Bush-hater that loves scifi, web design, and running my own online fanzine. Basically I'm a music geek with a "slight" obsession for Melodic Hardcore - leaning more towards the European and Japanese side of things! When Jared asked me to contribute some reviews for the first issue of his zine I jumped at the chance. Even built him this fancy little webpage. And I hope to have more reviews and interviews in future issues!

Veteran-cyber-punk as fuck. Old as fuck, too. Almost 30 years old. I'm so old, I can even remember the day when Kurt Cobain died. Besides that, I listen to all kinds of punk music and spend most of my time searching for new noise to torture my ears. Love to experience live-music/gig-action, too. Jared recruited me for his first issue of A Beat Of Our Own. I'm kind of on apprentice-level, because I never reviewed or columned before. Hope I'll get the chance to upgrade to the next level, though. It's fun to write about punk-music. It took me almost all my life to realize that. Second issue, here I come!
