I Excuse - ...Is Dead

Here's I Excuse's much anticipated second installment on cd! If you have their first album already you know exactly what to expect here. There's the same furious intensity of sound and Gon's soar throated vocals in an early Leatherface/Husker Du theme. New Day Falling's title sounds like a tip of the hat to Husker Du to me. I know they're big fans. The same goes for Children Eat Nightmare...sounds like an homage to the classic 90's Japanese pop/punk band the Lovemen. Air Guitar Crush is easily one of my favorite tracks off of this. How can you not love that title? It sounds like a cry against the shit that passes for punk in the mainstream now too. Daily Lies is another song I dig a lot. All in all ...Is Dead is just slightly below the standard of the debut Burn The Empty To The Ash. You certainly can't say they have un-original album titles! Very strange indeed! But I wonder how the sound will hold up with the recent loss of Masa on second guitar. If they ever record a third album we'll find out. I Excuse is supposedly on Snuffy Smile's Leatherface tribute album so maybe then... And tour the States already guys!
